Day 3: May 30th, 2011

Columbia Gorge, Catherine Creek

Initially the day was planned around hiking and sight seeing at the Mt Hood. Since we needed to get to Mt Hood via the Columbia Gorge route, we decided to take the scenic route and on the way stop to see some more of the gorgeous falls..

Riya and Dad "exploring" a myysterrrrrrrious cave!

But for some reason we missed the directions and ended up turning back towards the WA side of Columbia Gorge. We came to know about this childrens park area where Riya could unwind and we could have a picnic. Back on the road, we headed towards Catherine Creek

The large green patch in the above map is the actual Catherine Creek park. The trail head is off of the Lewis and Clark highway. The dotted path and the lined path on the "Old highway" (zoom in near the park bottom) are approximately where the two trails are. The bottom part is mostly a wilderness walk. Lovely blooms all around you and very gorgeous views of the Gorge. Here are some of our pictures:

We also did a small hike on the other side of this trail.. but that was more of an hiking experience. the trail was quiet and shady in some parts. We followed the trail till the point we needed to go across it and then turned back.

Overall, a real fun day for Riya. We ended the day with another dip in the Jacuzzi!
